Position Title: Coordinator, Programming & Development/Assistant, Programming and Development (Contract )


Position Summary:  The Oprah Winfrey Network is looking for a superstar coordinator to support our Unscripted Development and Current departments.  Duties will be largely administrative and will include maintaining and distributing information databases, cataloguing content, creating presentation decks and writing for both internal and external communications.  Will provide high level administrative support, including schedule and travel management, expense reports, sensitive communications, and acting as liaison to top OWN executives within and outside of the company.  This position will work closely with internal programming and production staff, internal OWN representatives across various departments and external production companies.  This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to grow and be mentored by a small group of creative execs.  Team is collaborative and is hoping to find someone who’s excited to jump in wherever/whenever they can.  Ideally, we would love to find a real, true fan of OWN’s unscripted TV content!

Key Responsibilities:

  • Schedule appointments, maintains and updates the programming department daily calendar.

  • Answer telephones, screen calls, route callers, take messages, respond to internal and external inquiries, and provide routine information within scope of authority.

  • Schedule, organize and coordinate meetings and facilities, including travel, transportation/hotel arrangements, prepare and distribute materials, agendas, notes, handouts, etc.

  • Arrange presentations and conferences; coordinate equipment needs and refreshments; compile and distribute materials, etc.

  • Responsible for the processing of expense reports.

  • Open, review, route, and disseminate interoffice and external mail, distribute correspondence and other material to department staff.

  • Provide data entry and clerical support. Assist with special projects and provide general office support such as copying and faxing. Establish and maintain department records and files.

  • Function as administrative liaison to departmental staff, other departments, external vendors and consultants.

  • Liaise with production companies as necessary to set up meetings and create agendas and schedules for programming meetings.

  • Maintain development and production reports, production calendars and competitive reports.

  • Reviewing submitted materials and making comments.

  • Coordinating the set up of shoots and occasionally production assist in support of department needs

  • Transcribe and review clips as needed


 Requirements and Qualifications:

  • 1 year of entertainment administrative assistant experience in the general entertainment, non-fiction/documentary television and/or Cable or Broadcast industry required

  • Bachelor's degree in related field of study preferred

  • Proficiency in Windows, Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint

  • Knowledge of production and post-production is a plus

  • Coordinator will work on-site in our Los Angeles offices. 

  • Strong and concise verbal and written communication skills

  • Ability to think quickly and problem solve in high pressure scenarios

  • Team player who enjoys collaboration and can interface with offices in multiple locations

  • Extremely organized, detail oriented and always a step ahead

  • Ability to confidently interact with every level of staff and talent

  • Professional presence and friendly demeanor

  • Being tech savvy and having strong research skills is a plus
